Background
Andrea Veronica Muñoz Spannaus was born on May 18, 1968, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Carlos Alberto Muñoz and Elida Menicucci Norton. Raised in Béccar, Argentina, she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age nine with her family, an event she describes as transformative, stating, “We started a new life… it was really wonderful the way our family life changed for all of us.”
She earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Profesorado de Educación Inicial Sara Eccleston in Buenos Aires and pursued additional studies in art and interior design. On October 22, 1992, she married Alin Spannaus in the Buenos Aires Argentina Temple. They are parents to two daughters.
Sister Spannaus has a deep commitment to Church service. She was sustained as Second Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency on April 1, 2023, beginning her service on August 1, 2023. At the time of this calling, she was serving on the Relief Society Advisory Council. Her previous Church roles include early-morning seminary teacher, ward Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary president, and full-time missionary in the Argentina Resistencia Mission. She also served alongside her husband as a mission leader in the Mexico Cuernavaca Mission from 2009 to 2012. Other notable contributions include serving on the South America South Area For the Strength of Youth Conference Committee, the FSY Utah Latino Conference Committee, and as an adviser in a young single adult Spanish-speaking ward.
Her passions include family history, temple worship, spending time with family and friends, traveling to learn about different cultures, dancing, and enjoying the peace of nature. Sister Spannaus deeply values the belief that all are children of a loving God, which she sees as a source of profound spiritual power.
