Cornerstone

For the body is not one member, but many.

Venue Location Update

Get access to high-quality learning!

Attend the 2023 Deaf Symposium – get inspired and closer to Jesus Christ.

President Gordon B. Hinckley’s April 1997 General Conference address where he pleaded that new converts to the Church — and, really, anyone who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ — 1) need a friend or connection, 2) a responsibility or motivation, and 3) “nurturing with the good word of God” (Moroni 6:4) or continual access to gospel teachings.

Every one of them needs three things: a friend, a responsibility, and nurturing with “the good word of God” (Moro. 6:4). It’s our duty and opportunity to provide these things.

Be A Friend

Having a Responsibility

Nurturing with the Good Word of God

Belonging to the Body of Christ

Second, the apostle Paul’s reminder that the “body of Christ” is one whole but contains many different members with a variety of talents, needs, and abilities. When those needs are not met or understood, everyone is impacted and disadvantaged.

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ… And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it (1 Cor. 12:12, 26).
