Melanie Newton lives in Salem, Oregon with her husband of almost 21 years, her 5 kids, 2 cats and a dog!  Melanie has a degree in Education from Brigham Young University and a Masters in Deaf Education from the University of Arizona.   She has taught in a variety of settings including Special Education, mainstream schools,BYU as an ASL instructor, Deaf schools and is currently working as an itinerant Teacher of the Deaf in Salem and surrounding areas.   A strong advocate for her students, Melanie’s passion is advocacy, teaching students to learn to access the tools they need to be successful and advocate for themselves, and to help her Ward and Stake members advocate for their needs.    She is excited to be here this year and share her thoughts on how our Savior is our Advocate and how we can access God’s power more fully through Him.
