Background
Julie Gergely Eldredge
Julie Gergely Eldredge is Deaf. She and her husband, Bryan, are the proud parents of three adult daughters, all of whom work in fields related to ASL and the Deaf community—two as professional interpreters and one as a university instructor in ASL and Deaf Studies at Utah Valley University.
Julie recently retired after a distinguished 36-year career teaching American Sign Language, ASL literature, Deaf culture, and Deaf history. She taught at Brigham Young University, the University of Iowa, Kirkwood Community College, and Utah Valley University. For more than 38 years, she has also served the Church in a variety of roles, including as a language coach, translator, and interpreter.
From 1985 to 1987, Julie served a mission in the Deaf program in Fremont, California, and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Brigham Young University.
Julie is passionate about teaching and staying active. She enjoys sports, especially basketball and volleyball which she plays. Now she plays pickleball, walking and spending time with family, especially her eight grandchildren.
Talisha Eldredge
Talisha Eldredge is a proud Coda. She is married to Thomas Turek, and they have three children together. Talisha is the owner of Tali’s Treats, a boutique home bakery specializing in custom gourmet cakes and desserts. Recently Tali has begun catering private events.
Talisha is a certified interpreter who worked at Utah Valley University for 9 years. She now works as a freelance interpreter in the community. She is also a translator, interpreter, and language coach on various Church-related projects. She is often recognized for her interpreting work during general conference broadcasts.
In addition to her professional work, Talisha frequently assists her mother with administrative and interpreting support for general conferences and other assignments.
